| Many thanks to Bill Schultz and our webmaster
for their tireless work on behalf of the class. 35+ years in a paragraph: My
wife, Margaret Lewis, and I live in Middleton. Margaret is from the
Milwaukee area and, for many years, served as the UW System's chief
"lobbyist" (after three terms in the legislature).
Andrew, our oldest, is a rising senior at Dartmouth; "Ali" is a sophomore
at the Peck School of Arts, part of UW-Milwaukee; and Kate is a Middleton HS
sophomore (and member of the Middleton wrestling team!). Returning to the
tax/economic policy work I did early in my career, I head a 75-year-old
nonprofit research organization, the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance. During
the ten years prior, I was marketing manager for a privately-held Wisconsin
food manufacturer.
In my spare time over the years, I have attended lots of kids' sporting
events, especially soccer and diving (Andrew still dives in college);
continually gobbled up parts of our yard for additional garden space; served
on a school and a county board; and enjoyed the adventures that come with a
Welsh Corgi. After West, I attended UW-Madison and later did graduate work
at Harvard and the U. of Chicago's business school. 4/07

After West, I went to the UW and law school,
then on to Washington DC to work with the Labor Department. It was a good
career, with four different jobs spanning 27 years (yikes!). Then came big
changes.
In 1999, Lee Higbie (class of ’67) and I got married in San Francisco at the
grand re-opening of the City Hall. Lee ‘retired’ from the Alaska Railroad
and I ‘retired’ from government, and we lived happily in San Francisco.
While there, I began to practice Reiki, which I learned from our classmate
Donna Gaus.
Now Lee and I live in Santa Barbara, near his mother. I continue to practice
and teach Reiki here. We also enjoy traveling (especially back to Alaska),
hiking, biking, gardening, and just being in nature.
A big THANKS to Bill Schultz for organizing the reunions and to Rick Gullick
for this excellent web site. Your efforts have brought the joy of
reconnecting with old friends, and enriched my life.

Well-- here goes the daunting task of putting down a brief bio of the last
35+ years.
After graduating from the UW-- it was off to an idyllic few
years in Hawaii and then on to San Francisco. I was fortunate in that
several of my best buds from high school and college were already living in
the Bay area--including Karin Purcell and Mona Oppreicht. I don't think that
I have to elaborate to say that the mid 70's was quite the interesting time
to be living in that part of the world.
It was also in the Bay area that I met my husband to be,
Bob, and his two children. At the time, I did not realize that a CPA could
have such a wanderlust personality. His job took us to 7 different homes on
the West Coast-- and then gasp-- back to the Midwest. We have been living
happily ever after just east of Minneapolis for the last nine years. Nice
and close to my family and friends that still live in the Madison area.
Luckily, my career as a sales rep and meeting planner--gave me the
flexibility it took for these relocations.
As for recent updates--Bob and I have a home in the PGA West
Golf Club in the Palm Springs area where we can get together with my
stepchildren and 4 grandkids. We plan on retiring there within the next
several years to hone our golf game. The picture that I have included was
taken by my husband on our 25th Wedding Anniversary this last year in
Venice.
I also would like to thank Rick Gullick and Bill Schultz for
all of their hard work keeping our class of "69" in touch-- and in such
style! I am looking forward to our 40th reunion-- and hope that many more of
our fellow alumni show up this time around.

After high school I attended the UW, where I
majored in dodging mathematics and Vietnam. While at the UW, I met and
married my wife, Hildegard (only after showing up to date her roommate and
being stood up, and forgetting her name on our second date). 35 years later,
I almost always get her name right. We have one son Andrew who is 26 and my
partner in crime. This is working out well recently as by and large the
visits from the police have stopped. I own one home and that's more than
enough.
After an initial 10 years of job hopping, I have been lucky enough to keep
the same job for 25 years, as my present employers have not caught on yet.
No surprise, I am no better a fit into the corporate culture than I was at
West. Some things never change.
I have never been to the Caribbean, Russia or the Middle East, and I've also
never been to Japan, Botswana, Montenegro or Middle Earth. The only actors
and actresses I know were in the high school play, (though I did change
Luther Allison's guitar strings on stage once) but my aunt's brother Dusty
cuts famous people's hair in Hollywood. While I have not received any
accolades or famous awards, I did lose my election bid for Dogcatcher in
Blanchardville. The companies I do not own and never started are as
successful as many other non existent entities.
In spite of all these accomplishments (of which living to age 56 may be the
most significant) I manage to find time to enjoy my life. I am close to my
son, and we share a strong relationship and rewarding hobbies and interests.
My wife is still my best friend and the most beautiful woman I know (when
we're on speaking terms). In 2006 I survived a bout with colon cancer, (if
anybody has not had a colonoscopy yet, GET ONE!) but the prognosis is good,
and I spend most of my time enjoying my family my work, and a world that
never ceases to amaze me with its beauty and opportunities.
While High School is no longer the peak experience of my life, I'll never
forget dancing with Kathy Troia to "Surfer Girl" at a seventh grade YMCA
mixer, and if memory serves me right, she even asked me to dance...WOW! :
dating Gloria Boone in high school, (we had such a good time, that I was
terrified of ever asking her out again, and never did) and the Cretin
Society Jug Band, many of whom got lost along the way in the drug culture of
our youth. I wish all my classmates the very best, and hope you and your
families are happy and fulfilled in your lives.
