Ted Eisele

I attended the UW after high school. I graduated in Education with an English major and a Communication Arts minor. After that I taught high school in Freeport, Illinois, and Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. At that point, I decided that I really didn’t want to be a public school teacher anymore, and added some classes and skills so that I could work in television and video production. At about the same time, I took a summer school class entitled “Literature of the Outdoors” at Montana State University where we not only read great books about man and nature, we also wrote of our own experiences as we backpacked and climbed mountains in the Rockies. That class changed my life. I knew I wanted to live in the west among the mountains. Ever since 1976, I have lived in the West. I become a TV director, and directed live newscasts in various areas, including San Luis Obispo, Ca., and Boise, Idaho.

I moved to Boise in 1980, and hope I never leave. I love it here. We have some of the greatest outdoor recreation you could imagine. Whitewater kayaking, superb flyfishing, great skiing, and more. Furthermore, we can drive 15 miles up the mountains and ski in powder, yet we rarely have to drive on snow here in the valley.

Fly fishing is a passion for me. I’ve had several articles and photos published on the subject, and hope to do more when I retire. I also enjoy fly tying, which is what I’m doing in my photo. I am currently an instructional TV manager for Boise State University (home of the “smurf turf!”). Working here has allowed me to continue my work in broadcasting, while also getting the chance to teach an occasional TV/video production class. I have two great kids who are currently in college.

Michael Edwards

There were 2 Mike Edwards in our graduating class, and to make it more difficult we had the same middle initial. I am listed as Michael in the year book.

Well, I married Sharon Dickinson from our class in 1972 and we have had 20 good years together. We have been married 37 but only about 20 have been good. Only kidding (she really gets mad at me for that one). I had my own gas station -- Belleville Mobil -- for about 5 years. When the economy and a very long bridge repair made it financially impossible, I built custom vans at Suburban Motors in Verona. Then I dabbled in carpentry but went back to wrenching at John Erickson's Chevrolet in Verona. There I met my current business partner, Brian, and we decided to start a remodeling business. So for the past 15 years I have been the E of E&W Home Improvements. We do anything from deck repair to building houses.

I have 4 children. The oldest Brandi (our only biological child) is expecting our first grandchild the 7th of August. She owns Blooms Flower Shop in Madison. Our other children are adopted and from Korea. Our second oldest, Jenni, is a post-adoption specialist with the Minnesota agency she was adopted through and is currently in graduate school in addition to working full time.

My current hobby is working on my 1963 Mercury Meteor that I purchased long before children, sold to help pay for the adoption fees, and bought back almost 20 years to the day after selling. I also have a 1935 Ford 5 window coupe that has drained finances over the past 30 years. Sharon is into horses and now we both have a horse and have been riding more. My wife and I have a cabin on a small lake near Hayward and enjoy fishing.
