Stephen Jarchow

I have two children – my daughter Boo is in college and my son Jon Paul is in high school. I split my time between homes in Dallas and Los Angeles. (Not being married makes that much easier!) In my spare time I like to play tennis, go to the movies and read. After graduating high school, I went to the University of Wisconsin and graduated with a BBA, MS and JD with Honors. I then practiced tax and real estate law for several years, becoming a partner with Lincoln Property Company, and then a senior managing director with Bear Stearns, an investment banking firm.

I’ve been lucky in having a varied and exciting career in both real estate ventures and the motion picture business. I founded several companies including a mortgage company, a medical products company, a film production/distribution company and a cable and satellite television network. My work has taken me around the world, especially to the Caribbean, Russia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. I have been involved in the production and/or distribution of over 100 motion pictures, several of which have garnered critical success. “Gods and Monsters” directed by Bill Condon and starring Ian McKellen, Brendan Fraser and Lynn Redgrave received three Academy Award nominations (winning for Best Adapted Screenplay), four Golden Globe nominations (winning for Best Supporting Actress), three Independent Spirit Awards, and numerous other international accolades including Best Picture by the National Board of Review. “Twilight of the Golds” starring Brendan Fraser, Jennifer Beals, Faye Dunaway, Gary Marshall and Rosie O’Donnell won two Cable Ace Awards.

My entertainment companies, Regent Entertainment and Here Networks, have received extensive recognition including Aurora Awards, Davey Awards, W3 Awards, ACLU Pride Partnership Award, Outfest Awards, Omni Intermedia Awards, American Design Awards, Summit Mea Awards and others. My distribution company is currently releasing “Stephanie Daley” starring Amber Tamblyn (who was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for her role in the film), Tilda Swinton and Timothy Hutton. “Stephanie Daley” also won a major screenwriting award from the Sundance Film Festival.

I serve on the Board of Trustees of Otis College of Art and Design where my daughter goes to school. I’ve also taught Entertainment Law for many years and am the author of five books.
