Up date. Boy life is fun. Just got back in Jan from Costa Rica where 22 of us
started a 3 story house for battered women and children in Esparza. I will be
going to Cuba again this June to work on the farm which is feeding more than
3000 people that need food. I'm on our church mission panel and lead trips to
Cuba. I have a Yak club at our church and a motorcycle club that I also do. I
retired a while back and got my teaching license up dated so I now sub for all
classes at the MS/HS in Indian Land SC. This year I got back into coaching. I
coach basketball and track @ HS level. The basketball team was on probation and
grades were not a big priority. Clean up the attitudes, and we took 2nd in
conference, and missed state by 4 pts. We ended up ranked 16th in the state. Not
bad for a team that was to take last place in conference at the start of he
season. Track we should be strong as well. I was in Canada working when we had
our reunion and really missed not coming back for it. My wife Rebecca and I are
looking to travel more and then maybe retire on the family farm in Lynchburge VA
area. That will take 5 years since she stills has that amount of time before she
can early retire at 55. If your in the SC/Charlotte NC area drop me a line.
Peace Scott Wille

it's been quite a journey and quite a tale to tell, but later...meanwhile we
are safely docked at Hemingway marina waiting for the northers to pass...I have
a flight on Saturday to Indiana to visit my parents which means we have to leave
tomorrow hopefully if the weather breaks. spent 2 nights in Bahia honda 37 miles
west of here dancing on the hook and very thankful to be there. Don made the
call to go in Saturday night with the idea of going the last few miles early
Sunday, but Saturday night the winds came up so we waited until Tuesday to
leave. Pretty choppy trip, last leg and the entrance was the between two narrow
reefs with the waves crashing. Quite impossible if we had tried to do it Sat
night which we were going to do, so good call from Don.
...the people are very nice, interesting place, taking lots of photos. Got
stopped by a US Coast Guard destroyer with guns and all about 30 miles south of
Cuba...what are we doing? where are we going? documentation number/ Passport
numbers? they did not board us thankfully... they were very nice, only doing
their job... patrolling the international waters off Cuba??? what a waste of
taxpayers money. In all our 7500 mile of travel this has never happened..
we've come over 1000 miles and only 100 left to go to Key West. If we can leave
tomorrow - Wed afternoon, then get in on Thursday morning then on Friday I could
catch a bus up to Ft Lauderdale for my Sat flight. Then Don will take the boat
himself (maybe Andy. Don's brother could come and help him) go up the inland
waterway 200 miles to Hobe Sound (he will day hop and anchor at night) where we
plan to keep the boat while we are in Florida.
so don't worry, all is well with us, I will give you a full report later. the
Florida straits are the last little challange, but we can do it..almost home.
Sea Peace is great. she loves the wind and loves to sail. She sails herself and
the Yanmar (diesel)is great.
Love and Light to you all,
Donna and Don

Hi All:
Well it’s starting to get cold in WI and my “end of
fishing season” depression has already begun to
set-in. As much as I like fall, I HATE what comes
next. We can only hope we don’t have a winter like
last year.
On a brighter note, I was in San Diego and LA at the
end of last week on business and had an extra hour
while in San Diego and had a chance last Thursday
morning go to Pat Rohan’s home for a quick visit.
Pat has done very well in commercial real estate and
has live in San Diego for 31 years. Last Thursday
morning was sunny and clear as I headed up the hill
Pat’s home is on. I think the guy who coined the
term, “million dollar view” was either sitting on
Pat’s patio looking out at the Pacific Ocean or in
Kathy Troia McFarland’s living room looking down the
entire length of Central Park in NY.
Pat told me the hill he lives on is the highest in
San Diego, providing the spectacular view I
mentioned. The view also includes Mission Bay and
the City to the SW. I met Pat’s wife Diane, which
was a pleasure. They have two daughters aged 10 and
12.
Just as I’ve found with other classmates I’ve had
the pleasure to visit and see on occasion, it was
such a comfortable visit. Pat was very interested in
information about various classmates, which I shared
with him. Diane joined us for part of the visit,
which was a pleasure. The only negative was not
having more time to spend talking and enjoying the
view.
While in LA I had hoped to have time to call either
Mike Krival or Steve Jarchow, but it wasn’t going to
work.
I truly enjoyed seeing Pat and continue to be amazed
that it’s been close to 40 years since we graduated.
I mentioned to Pat how funny it was that during
College we were both at Wisconsin competing in
sports and really didn’t see each other very much. I
think the last reunion Pat was able to attend was
our 20th, or maybe 25th. I sure hope he and Diane
will be able to join us on August 7-8, 2009.
Personally, I can’t wait!

Mike Krival, his wife Ann and their prize and
joy Ella had dinner with me in late March during a
business trip to the west coast. We had not seen
each other since the mid 70's, so this was a grand
reunion. Unfortunately, Ann was the photographer and
isn't shown in the photo, so Mike will have to post
a picture of the entire family on our new West High
website! This meeting was all made possible from the
work you've done keeping the email list and
forwarding happenings. Thank you!!
As you may recall, Mike was the star running back on
the West football team our senior year, so we shared
laughs and exaggerations about our football
memories. We also traded family happenings and great
memories, as well as becoming acquainted with the
grown, professional people that we have become. We
met-up in Long Beach and walked, talked, and ate for
over 4 hours! He's done a great deal of traveling
over the years, and talked a bit about that. Ann is
from Belgium, though they met in LA. She is a very
beautiful, warm and caring person, and compliments
Mike well. And a great mom too!
Krival and I go way back to early grade school at
Nakoma, and together with our buddy Mike Thomas, got
into many a fine predicament! The stories about Don
and Dora at the Trading Post......... We also played
baseball together as kids, and were on the state
championship senior little league team. Daryl Daneen
gave me a picture of that team several years back,
so I had it with me and gave Mike a copy for
memories. Oh how we've changed. |

I am Ecuador, touring South America. My
husband Don and I left San Francisco last October on
our sailboat Sea Peace (Passport 40). It has taken
us 7 months to get here via Mexico, El Salvador,
Nicaragua, Costa Rica. We bought a car and are
traveling, exploring South America.

Just was going to put in an up-date but didn't know
how. I will be going to Cuba in June 22-30th for my
mission trip. Still Very tight to get into Cuba, US
Gov doesn't want us in there, not sure how it's
being done to get us in, but there are ways. I will
post more as I get close to this and will give a
photo review if possible when I get back. Peace,
Scott Wille

News from the West Coast

Hi all:
Last week I was in Indian Wells, CA (Palm Springs area) running our alumni
association clinical conference. The educational sessions went well and so
did the social activities. I had 40 MD’s at the conference and about 75
total people. But for me, the highlight of the week was an extremely
enjoyable evening with Randy and Kay Nolen at their beautiful home in Indian
Wells. Randy represents a variety of performers and moving to Indian Wells
within the past couple of years got him closer to his clients.
I’m not a late night person, but we were having such a good time that pretty
soon it was after 11:30 p.m. We did a lot of talking, they cooked a
wonderful steak dinner with a squash dish that was the best I’ve ever had,
and then we went through the entire senior yearbook talking and asking about
almost everyone.
I hope to have a nice photo of Randy and Kay that I can forward to all of
you.
I’m sure many of you know the pleasure of getting together with classmates,
but I thought I’d pass this great experience along to you. I’m hoping to
take Randy and son, Ryan, fishing next summer when the family is back in
Madison for a while.
